I have taught fine art to people of all ages, and my classes are known for being FUN with lessons targeted on an individual basis, tailored for each person at their own growth pace. Current students are beginner artists, adult artists, middle schoolers working on art contest entries, and high school artists working on art submissions to get into a good art college. I can cover most mediums (ask if unsure).

Beginner?

ANYONE CAN LEARN ART! Just like musical instruments, sports, and more, art is a skill – it does not require talent! If you’re a beginner artist or you are just looking for more art accountability, my teaching philosophy is to make art sessions a fun experience, to help foster a lifelong passion for art. This passion you develop will help you keep working on art even when we aren’t meeting, until one day people will start calling you an artist. We’ll do fun activities together each time we meet, and you’ll leave each session amazed at your progress!

Online classes

Did you know that you can stay home in your jammies while still learning art? This is an affordable and convenient option available to you with no extra charge.

Entering art contests?

If you need help working through contest prep, I am very familiar with the process and have even won many art contests. I can help anyone work on an entry! See my About page for the list of major art contests won in the past (including VASE, Houston livestock show and rodeo, and TAEA).

Applying for art colleges?

If you are applying for college or want to push your comfort zone and grow more as an artist, I can teach foundational art skills like space, form, composition, line, interesting perspective, figure drawing, gesture drawing, still life, and creating interior and exterior environments. The best part is my focus is on making it actually fun and engaging!

Cost

If you’re interested in getting art lessons for you or a loved one, it’s $50 per hour at my house in North Austin, with a minimum of four 1.5 hour lessons, or three 2 hour lessons, total, per booking. I also offer the convenience of online classes at no extra charge.

I offer free consults, either in person or online/over the phone so you can learn more about how I can custom tailor classes for you!

For the art classes, you’ll need to provide your own art supplies. Here is the list of art supplies I recommend. By the way, you can get discounted art supplies from the local stores Use2 (down in south Austin), and Austin Creative Reuse.
